One of my favorite things about our recent trip to New York was all the delightful pizza dates we went on – in search of the city’s perfect slice. But the Big Apple isn’t the only place to find a delicious slice of pizza. Last week, husband and I visited our own favorite local slicery – Tomato Pie.
Tomato Pie has three locations in LA, including one in our own Silverlake neighborhood. Boasting “East coast flavor, with west coast style,” their thin crust pizzas are Sicilian style, with a certain creative flair. Along with full pie’s and orders by the slice, they also offer old-school Italian fare (I am shamefully obsessed with their delicious garlic knots.) Their pizza’s range from their signature pie, made with romano cheese rather than mozzarella and cooked in a square pan, to gourmet concoctions like their mac + cheese pie.
Personally, I’m partial to The Grandma pizza and Joe P. while husband likes their Miss Green which includes pesto, broccoli, spinach, artichoke, and zucchini.
Beyond the yummy pizzas, the vibe in the quaint Silver Lake shop is bright and cheery with mid-century modern details complemented by tones of orange and turquoise.
It’s a great place to grab a quick slice for lunch, or, as in our case, have a casual weeknight date.
