For hundreds of years people have been reveling in the many health and beauty benefits of honey, and lately, I can’t seem to get enough of the stuff! Luckily for me, Husband discovered a literal honey haven in Sylmar that sells locally produced natural honey, bee pollen, and a wide assortment of honey products for health and beauty. If you’re anywhere near the area, you simply must check this place out!
It’s called Honey Shop Jireh and it’s located just off the 5 freeway on San Fernando Road. Not only do they carry every honey product known to man, but they also offer honey tastings, over which their very knowledgable staff can tell you anything and everything you ever wanted to know (or didn’t want to know) about honey! On our latest visit we bought Wild Flower, Sage, and Avocado Honeys – All delicious, but each very different in flavor.
We also took home a jar of natural organic bee pollen… Which I am told has the power to cure cancer…
And I also snagged a vile of Pink Honey Oil which is supposed to result in radiant skin if one remembers to put it on twice a day…
For today’s sweet beauty treat, here are a few of my favorite daily uses for honey and honey-products that I completely recommend to anyone looking to add a little natural sweetness to their life….
For a Morning Kick: Toner Tonic
Boil a cup of water, pour over a a table spoon of Apple Cider Vinegar, stir in two table spoons of honey. This alternative to tea or coffee is packed with oxidants and will give you a natural jolt of energy in the morning. Enjoy!
For a Treat: Vanilla Yogurt with Granola and Bee Pollen
Pour out a bowl of low fat vanilla yogurt, stir in a cup of granola and sprinkle a pinch of natural bee pollen on top for an energy and nutrient packed treat!
For a Moisturizing Mask: Honey & Vitamin E Oil
Mix a spoonful of honey with 4 to 6 drops of vitamin E oil for a moisturizing face mask that will give you a healthy glow.
For the perfect Lip Scrub: Honey & Brown Sugar
To smooth and soften dry, chapped lips, take a dollop of honey and mix with a pinch of raw brown sugar (HINT: if you warm the sugar in the oven or microwave it will mix and disolve easier in the honey!) Gently rub the mixture on your lips and voila, totally kissable soft lips!
Have fun getting your honey on!
