Wardrobe Revamp Part 1

One of the things I love best about the blogging community is that it allows others to share so openly about their lives, ideas and challenges and so often, those challenges and feelings mirror my own.  Making it a sort of place for reassurance – Safety in numbers.
I’ve been hating on much of my wardrobe for like a year now.  So much of what I own is darling and beautiful, but just hasn’t felt like me in a long time.  In fact, I haven’t felt particularly stable in my fashion sense for so long, I honestly don’t know what my style is anymore.  All I know is much of my wardrobe isn’t feeling right.  Maybe it’s an age thing, maybe it’s a change in trends, but I feel like I need to overhaul my closet and revamp my style.  Big time.
Thing is, it seems that every one of the bloggers I read is going through the same issue.  Everyone is a buzz about the clothing time-capsule idea and reselling clothes on new sites like Twice.  I guess everyone is going through the same reappraisal and questioning how they can simultaneously downsize and make their wardrobes more complete.
I’ve given it quite a bit of thought and have decided not to do the time-capsule thing, because I am not quite at that point of efficiency yet.  I still need to figure out what my style in my 32nd year actually is… So that requires a bit more wiggle room.
But I have been cleaning out my closet and plan to sell a bunch of stuff over at Crossroads Trading Center (we’re are lucky enough to live just down the street from one.) And I done a bit of online shopping for a few key pieces – Mostly blouses and skirts.  I am hedging towards a classic, slightly preppy style that will work for all occasions, work and play.  But I’ve also purchased a few pieces that have a more bohemian/romantic style to them.  We’ll see what feels best.
I also plan on trying the ribbon method in my closet, as suggested by A Beautiful Mess (aka – my blog bible!)  It’s a simple way to track what pieces from your closet you’re actually wearing and hopefully will allow me to make more closet cuts in the coming months.
I’ll continue to share my trials and successes as I revamp my wardrobe, and hopefully, all of us in the blog world can regain control of our closets!
