Current Sounds : Vacationer

It’s been on repeat on my Spotify account for about 3 weeks now – Vacationer’s recent album Relief. And I’m still not tired of it.  It’s like an actual exotic vacation bottled up in music form.  It’s poppy, but not too poppy.  Mellow, but not too mellow.  Peppered with sounds that evoke an ocean shore or tropical rainforest.  It combines island influences, with a soothing alternative synth sound, which apparently is called “Nu-Hula.”  All I can say is I dig it.  Plus there’s the overarching lyrical theme of leaving the daily grind behind in favor of the “Wild Life,” solidifying the album as the perfect summer soundtrack to make you feel like you too are on vacation.

A newbie to the band, which is comprised of Kenny Vasoli, Matthew Young, Ryan Zimmaro, Michael Mullin and Greg Altman, I’ve been listening to their debut album quite a bit too and am equally as smitten.  All good stuff and all good vibes – Even on the 30th listen.
