Drink of the Week – Peach Fuzz

To celebrate Cinco de Mayo yesterday, Husband and I decided to whip up a festive cocktail.  Naturally, margaritas come to mind when celebrating the 5th of May, but the shortage of limes (due to heavy rains in Mexico) have made your average Margarita an expensive extravagance these days.  So instead, we put together a peach cocktail using lemon juice, peaches, honey and bourbon….

The Fixings:

1 whole small ripe peach (the more ripe the better!)
3 fluid oz. fresh lemon juice
4 dashes of angostura bitters
2 oz. Mezcal Vago Espadin
2 oz. Lillet Blanc
6 oz. Four Roses Bourbon
2 tbsp. peach jelly from Lane Farms in Georgia, preferably

Sage Honey Syrup:

1 oz. sage honey
1/2 oz. boiling water
* mixed together to create syrup

The Plan:

Muddle Peach
Fill tall shaker with ice
Add all ingredients including Sage Honey syrup
Shake really well!
Garnish cup with peach slice and serve

Remember to adjust the recipe to you taste.  Too sweet?  Nix the peach jelly.  Too strong?  Lessen the bourbon.  Just right?  Well then, enjoy!
