Exxopolis

Exxopolis is a touring art installation that’s referred to as a “Luminarium.”  I was lucky enough to get to experience it when the Music Center hosted the exhibit last month as part of their World City free cultural programming.  I’m so glad I did.

It’s basically like a bouncy house that doesn’t bounce.  The structure is handmade with a sheer plastic and it uses air and natural light to create a series of caverns and rooms that seem other worldly.  None of the above photos have filters or any photoshopping done to them whatsoever.  You can see how it was a tour de force of color and light.  It was amazing to stroll through the tunnels and feel as though I has escaped to another planet for a few minutes!
Exxopolis was created by the British artists Architects of Air, and is continuing to tour the country.  Check out their website for their next engagement and if it’s coming your neck of the woods, take the time to go see it.  You won’t be disappointed!
