Happy 2013 everyone!  We spent New Year’s Eve in an airplane flying back from jolly ole’ England.  And, while we did gain 8 hours and made it back to LA way before midnight, we were far too jet lagged to stay up to count in the New Year…We did sort of celebrate on the plane though, which was fun.
And yes, the boy and I have been in England for the past 10 days, celebrating the holiday with his family.  We had a lovely time and got a chance to catch up with family and friends we really haven’t seen in ages!  We also got to meet our new nephew, Finn, which was very exciting.  I’ve never been an aunt before, so it was somewhat momentous!
I’ll be sharing all the details of our winter away over the next week, but first let me take a moment to acknowledge the new year ahead…
It’s hard to believe that another year has come and gone, and to be honest, 2012 was a bit difficult for me personally.  I’ve always been a pretty upbeat person and this past year I feel like I kind of lost myself in a lot of negativity and doubt.  I’ve been stressed and worried for really no reason of consequence.  And I hate that I let myself fall into that mindset.
But that’s the great thing about New Years, it’s the perfect time to make a fresh start!  And I plan to!  2013 is going to be a great year; I can just feel it!  My main goal for the year is to let go of my feelings of doubt and fear and just trust myself.  I will stop being so judgmental of myself and start accepting things as they come.  I feel like the word I want to use to describe this goal is Freedom, which sounds strange, but the thing is, I put so many constraints and pressures on myself (for no reason, just my own insanity) and in 2013 I just want to be free from all that….I’m just going be happy in being myself.
But I do have some more concrete resolutions too….Here are some of my goals for 2013:
* Reorganize my hard drive and clean up my digital space (this is a massive one, but lucky for me the boy gave me a new external hard drive for Christmas to help me with this much needed task!)
* Keep dancing (I had a bit of a turbulent year when it came to dance, but I feel energized to get back into it this year!)
* Learn a new skill (so many I want to learn!)
* Be more helpful to my friends
* Be meticulous about organizing my photos (I’m so bad at that)
* Get better at the ukelele
* Finish the Burger Quest!
There are actually a whole bunch of little goals I could add to the list, and I’m sure they will change as the year goes on, but one thing is for sure, this year is going to be a good one, so let’s do it shall we?
