I have been talking about moving apartments for a while now. And it’s not that I don’t love my apartment, because I do. It’s just getting closer and closer to the need for an upgrade. For instance, we don’t have a dishwasher or a laundry facility and after five years of going without that, I’m thinking things need to change.
But as I think about where else the boy and I could live, I can’t help but feel incredibly lucky for this little place. I mean, it’s in an incredible area and the rent is really reasonable. Both the boy and I can walk to our jobs and, in LA, that is simply unheard of. With all that going for it, we’ve decided that we just can’t give this place up…Not yet anyway. But I do think it’s time for a make-over. An apartment sprucing, if you will. I’ve decided that we need to do a bit of redesigning to give the place a fresh new feel and personally I am envisioning a 1960’s vibe. (More about my design plans later!)
I have gone through so many decorating phases over the years. It’s one of my favorite things to watch our little space change with our changing tastes, and as we cultivate our own style, our own collections…Here’s a peek at some of our decor details…
Little collections have sprung up:
I love my wall of photos
Crafty things appear here and there
Our wood-cottage wall paper is my favorite thing in the whole joint (Thanks to my Aunt Christy for this one!)
It’s really nice to have a home of our very own!
Our little apartment is really something special. It was built in the 1920’s and has a myriad of little quirks and nooks that one just doesn’t see in modern apartment buildings. It is small, but it also is just about the perfect size for the 2 of us. Living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen, all on the small side, but we’ve made it work really well by keeping the furniture compact and the arrangement smart.
